FRG22D Froyo Update for Droid Patches Root Exploit!

The latest Android update being pushed out over-the-air (and manually, if you choose) has added support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it has also patched the exploit that our favorite tool (Universal Androot) utilizes to obtain root on the device.

We're sure that another 1-tap root app will address this issue shortly, if not an update to Universal Androot. But until another (simple) method is discovered, we recommend not applying the FRG22D update if you want to retain root access to your device.

We will continue our research and as soon as we discover a reasonable method of rooting FRG22D without any extreme risk of bricking the device we will publish instructions here!

Rooted Android Swag!

Like the Rooted Android image you see around the site? We do too! In fact, we like it so much that we decided to put it on a bunch of swag. Now you can get Rooted Android t-shirts, hoodies, water bottles, mouse pads, clocks, and more!

We have chosen to use CafePress to create these awesome products and we did not increase the price for any profit, so it's not our fault if some of the prices appear to be a little steep...

Click here to check out the Android Superuser CafePress store!

If you pick up some of these Rooted Android goodies, send us some pictures and we'll include them in our upcoming fan gallery!

Hello World!

Hello, world! Welcome to Android Superuser!

Here you  will find a plethora of information about unleashing the potential of your Android powered devices. Please be patient while we publish content and we would appreciate assistance from anyone willing to help us test utilities and confirm rooting techniques on devices. To find out how to  root your device, hover over the "Root" section at the top of the page and choose your device.

Also check out our Utilities section, there you will find plenty of excellent applications to take advantage of the power your Android device.

We are currently looking for users to test Universal Androot device compatibility. In our experience, unsuccessfully attempting to root a device with Universal Androot does not have any adverse effects. If the application cannot write to the folder it is attempting to use for the exploit, it simply notifies you that your device cannot be rooted. Please leave a comment here on our Universal Androot page and let us know if it worked to root your Android device!
