FRG22D Froyo Update for Droid Patches Root Exploit!

The latest Android update being pushed out over-the-air (and manually, if you choose) has added support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1, but it has also patched the exploit that our favorite tool (Universal Androot) utilizes to obtain root on the device.

We're sure that another 1-tap root app will address this issue shortly, if not an update to Universal Androot. But until another (simple) method is discovered, we recommend not applying the FRG22D update if you want to retain root access to your device.

We will continue our research and as soon as we discover a reasonable method of rooting FRG22D without any extreme risk of bricking the device we will publish instructions here!

  1. Any word on a fix for FRG22D yet?

  2. It has been two months. Has no one bothered? Has the Droid 1 been abandoned by the community?

    • There have been many attempts at quickrooting the Droid, but there have not been any successes. There are still manual ways to root the device which we will be posting to this site in the near future.
