How-To: Root your HTC Magic (MyTouch 3G)

Method 1: Using UniversalAndroot

1. Download Universal Androot here.
2. Find and install UniversalAndroot.apk (we suggest using Astro File Manager)
3. After installing, run Universal Androot.
4. Tap the "Root :-)" button to root your phone!
5. If successful, you will see "Woot ! Your device is rooted !" on the screen!
6. To finalize the rooting process, turn your phone off and back on.
7. You now have root access!

Note: This has been confirmed to work on a stock HTC Magic running Android v1.5
