Motorola Droid (A855)
How-To: Root your Motorola Droid
Method 1: Using UniversalAndroot
- Download Universal Androot here.
- Find and install UniversalAndroot.apk (we suggest using Astro File Manager)
- After installing, run Universal Androot.
- Tap the "Root :-)" button to root your phone!
- If successful, you will see "Woot ! Your device is rooted !" on the screen!
- To finalize the rooting process, turn your phone off and back on.
- You now have root access!
Note: This has been confirmed to work on a stock Motorola Droid running Android v2.2 (FRG01B)
Warning: This does not work to root Android 2.2 (FRG22D) on the Motorola Droid!

@unhappycarrot: yes, there is an “Unroot :-(” button as well that does exactly that.

its funny when you unroot because it says “you have now become a slave to your device!”
